This blog will discuss some items that can be cleaned thoroughly and effectively with citric acid and how they can be done. Without wasting any more time, these items are:
Kettles, toilets, taps, showers/bathrooms, and shower curtains.
Citric acid has high antibacterial capabilities. Research has shown that citric acid is a powerful bactericide, anticoagulant, and fungicide. These make citric acid extremely potent, and it can be used in a wide variety of commercial and domestic cleaning products. Examples of the products that may contain citric acid include metal and can cleaners, oven cleaners, soap scum removers, bathroom cleaners, dishwasher cleaners, and tub cleaners. They can also be used to deal with mildew, mold, bacteria, calcium deposits, lime, rust, and hard water stains.
Lemon juice, in particular, is widely regarded as the best choice for domestic cleaning. It contains about 8% citric acid.
Using citric acid to make a strong domestic cleaning solution is easy. All you need are:
A kettle to boil water, a jar of citric acid, a cleaning cloth, and a spray bottle. Just pour some water into the kettle, and add some spoons of citric acid. Allow the solution to boil for a short time, and then allow it to cool.
So, let us discuss how the items listed above can be cleaned using citric acid
Kettles
We talked about adding some water and citric acid into a kettle and boiling for some time, right? Well, that has automatically disinfected the kettle. All the mineral deposits, limescale, and rust in the insides of the kettle would be removed by this simple action. All you need to do is allow the kettle to cool and then wipe it off with a clean cloth. If any stubborn stains persist, simply repeat the process.
Toilets
We hope that you have not disposed of your citric solution. There is still a lot of use for it. It can be used in the toilet. To clean the toilet, just pour some of it into the toilet, and let it stay there for as long as it can. After some time, use a hard brush to scrub the toilet and then flush it. The water will wash down all the residue of the citric solution along with all the other particles that you wish to get rid of, leaving your toilet sparkling clean.
Taps
Are your taps made of brass? If not, then citric acid is the best for cleaning them. Simply pour the citric solution into a container and spread gently over all the taps. It gets rid of the limescale. A spray bottle can also be used instead of a container.
Showers/bathrooms
Citric solutions can be used to clean every part of the bathroom. Just mix the citric acid and hot water in a container. Soak a cleaning cloth or mop in the solution, and use it to clean for effective results. You will get the same results as the chemical-based products, albeit with less toxicity.
Shower/bathroom curtains
Contrary to popular belief, a citric solution can also be used to clean the curtains of the bathroom, as well as the floors and sinks. Just immerse them in the solution, and leave for a while. After that, rinse thoroughly and allow to dry.
In conclusion, it is always advisable to choose natural cleaning products over chemical-based products because they help protect you and your family against toxic substances with little or no negative impacts on you, your family, and the environment.
