Many families enjoy cooking from scratch. We like the aromas that floods through the house and the pleasure when a dish turns out well and we’re left with a delightful meal. If only the hard work ended there!
Unfortunately, once the food is down our gullets we’re stuck with a lot of domestic cleaning. If you own a dishwasher at least the majority can be cleaned mechanically, but biggest items, such as stainless steel pans or large oven trays might have to be cleaned by hand in the sink.
Occasionally ingredients, particularly sauces, will get burnt on the bottom of the pot, pan or tray, or around the edges, and we have to put in a lot of elbow grease to remove the stains effectively.
Usually you can release burnt stains from a stainless steel pan by simply pouring boiling water into it and letting it sit for a while. However, if this doesn’t prove enough, another good cleaning tip for removing burnt on food is by creating a paste using baking soda and water. The mixture should have the consistency of toothpaste.
Apply the paste over the burnt areas and let it sit for twenty minutes before wiping it away with the rough side of a sponge or scouring pad and rinsing under a tap.
