Spring cleaning for every season
Category: Spring Cleaning
But while spring cleaning is still a rewarding job that can breathe new life into your home at arguably the most uplifting point in the year, there's no need to neglect the other three seasons.
Deep cleaning in the summer, the autumn and the winter mean you can enjoy the benefits of a tidy, hygienic home all year round, and when spring rolls around again the job won't be such a big one.
If you did your spring cleaning in March or April, then the start of the school summer holidays in July could be the ideal time to give your house another once over.
Devote a weekend to making every room pristine, and you'll be able to enjoy those six weeks with the kids getting out and about without worrying about the mess waiting for you when you get back.
Remember as a kid how you used to treat the beginning of a new school year like a fresh start? You'd arrive in a brand new uniform with new pencils in your pencil case and a can-do attitude.
It's easy to apply the same approach to your home once the children are back in the classroom. Channel that positive energy into your cleaning ritual and start the season as you mean to go on.
It's tempting to abandon the housework during the winter, especially when there is little sunshine to illuminate all that dust. But this only leaves our homes even more in need of scrubbing come spring.
You can either clean from top to bottom before Christmas, ensuring you have a pristine home for all those guests over the festive period, or you could wait until the New Year when motivation levels are likely to be at their highest and you're keen to get the house 'back to normal'.
