The firm has revealed plans to regenerate a 26-acre piece of land in Stratford - an area that will also be the setting for much of the 2012 London Olympics.
A total of 1,200 new homes will be built alongside 480,000 sq ft of office space, it has been confirmed.
The company has pledged to make the new homes family-friendly, with 40 per cent set to have three bedrooms or more.
Developer Landprop - a subsidiary of the Inter Ikea Group - has already secured planning permission for the first stage of the impressive development, which could come as encouraging news to commercial cleaning specialists.
Mayor of London Boris Johnson has welcomed the development.
"This is yet another great example of the 2012 legacy rippling out of the Olympic Park and across east London," he commented.
Cleaning companies tasked with sprucing up the rented properties of Olympic athletes next year have been told to keep a close eye out for evidence of doping as they tidy up abodes in the Olympic Village.
