Clean the kid's room before they add their Christmas presents
Category: Home Cleaning
This is especially the case at Christmas, when an influx of Christmas cheer and new toys received as presents mean they are much more likely to want to run wild, with lots of time off school to make the most of.
However, giving their room a clean ahead of the big day can help keep things more manageable throughout the season, so it is well worth doing.
Decluttering is an essential first step if you hope to complete this task. If the room is still full of old toys that the children no longer play with, then they could help by organising everything into piles of items to be passed onto relatives or taken to charity shops - as well as letting you know where they would like their other toys to be kept.
Cleaning soft toys
Favourite teddy bears may look a little worse for wear - and there is nothing wrong with sending them off on an adventure in the washing machine if they need to be freshened up a little.
Some soft toys may be handwash only, in which case get to work with a soft brush and warm, soapy water, while plastic toys can be treated by soaking them in a very mild solution of bleach and water.
Bed and bedding, rugs and carpets
Finally, don't forget to refresh the bed sheets and vacuum under the bed, as well as vacuuming the whole carpet, using a crevice attachment to get to the corners. Any rugs can be shaken out outside - and older children might even find this activity fun.
Be sure to check the care labels if you plan on washing rugs, as some might be washable while others could be dry clean only.
