Getting rid of the smell of tobacco
Category: Home Cleaning
Getting rid of this smell can be difficult, but far from impossible. It will certainly be worth dedicating one of your days to getting your home clean and getting rid of the odour of stale tobacco.
The first step is to get rid of anything associated with smoking. This includes not only cigarette butts, but also ashtrays, old packets and even lighters. These retain a lot of the smell of smoke, so help the odour to linger in your home.
Next, get some fresh air into your home. It is best to wait for a nice sunny day with a cool breeze, then open up all your windows and your back door. The wind will hopefully blow away a lot of the stale smell in the air.
To get the smell out of the items in the room, take anything that can be washed - including cushion covers and any other soft furnishings - and put it in the machine. If you have a steam cleaner, you can use it on items such as curtains.
While these are being washed, use an odour-eliminating spray on your furniture. Anything made of fabric should be targeted first and foremost, as the material holds smells better than anything else. Finally, make sure to vacuum the carpet as well.
All that is left to do now is to light a scented candle or plug in an air freshener. This all sounds like a lot of work, but it is worth it. However, if it seems like it would be beyond your capabilities you can always opt instead for the services of a professional cleaning company to help you out.
