Keep the holiday attitude to cleanliness going when you return home
Category: Domestic Cleaning
To banish the post-holiday blues, it's often a good idea to carry on with a habit you picked up on your holidays. For instance, after a break in a Mediterranean town, why not carry on taking a lazy evening stroll, or pledging to enjoy a drawn-out meal with a glass of wine rather than wolfing a ready meal down in front of the TV.
The same goes for cleaning, too. Studies have shown that most travellers view the cleanliness of a hotel to be of the utmost importance.
In fact, 80 per cent of Brits, when responding to a recent study by Direct365, said that they would be ready to check out of a hotel and find somewhere else to stay if it didn't seem clean and hygienic enough. And understandably so - this is your special time away, so you don't want to have to be worrying about mucky floors, streaky windows or dust-covered surfaces.
So why let your standards slips upon returning home? Just as you might be inspired to start thinking like an Italian or Spaniard when it comes to good cuisine and evening strolls, so too might you want to take a leaf out of the chambermaid's book and step up your efforts to ensure your home is as clean as you would want a hotel to be.
Get into the habit of making the bed every morning, changing the sheets every few days, and then tidy up the bathroom, putting all your products in neat lines after you're done with them. You'll be surprised how much difference a small change in attitude can make.
Or, of course, if you really want to stay in holiday mode for as long as possible, call in the experts and let them take care of the household chores while you lie back and relax - albeit on the couch rather than a poolside lounger.
