Why do we do spring cleaning?
Category: Domestic Cleaning
Well, we have, so we went and found out.
It turns out that spring cleaning comes from the days when homes were heated by fireplaces and efforts were made to prevent heat from escaping. The coming of spring and warm weather was an opportunity to air the house out and clean it of soot and all the grime accumulated over the winter months.
While this is unlikely to be an issue for people these days, as central heating is now the norm, it's still a great opportunity to air out your home and give the place a really thorough clean.
It isn't as necessary though, as many of us hire domestic cleaners or are in the habit of cleaning on a much more regular basis.
This isn't to say that it isn't still a good idea though. Getting in the routine of a yearly spring clean will remind you to clean all of those areas which tend to get neglected, and can prompt a good declutter and tidy operation.
Let's be honest - how often do you wash your curtains or clean under the fridge? Probably very rarely. Even though these jobs don't need doing on a regular basis, they still need to be done, so this is a great chance to get going.
You can also have a massive clearout and leave your home less cluttered, so that you can really enjoy the bright and airy summer months.
If you don't think this is for you though, then you might want to call in the experts to tackle this task. Whether you use them on a regular basis or for a one-off deep clean, professional cleaners can leave your home spotless.
