Cleaning priorities for Christmas
Category: Carpet Cleaning
Clean your floors
A dirty floor is impossible to disguise, particularly to guests who might be eager to find even the smallest faults with your home. So make sure you wipe down any laminate or wooden floors and - if necessary - bring in a professional cleaning service to do a thorough job on your carpet.
Get your homeware sparkling
Guests won't want to drink out of dirty glasses and eat with grimy cutlery, so make sure everything on your table is gleaming. And of course, you could invest in a special set of glasses and cutlery just for special occasions.
Get rid of unwanted smells
This applies to every room in your house, but perhaps most importantly the kitchen. If you're cooking spicy food, that should be enough to disguise any nasty odours. But ideally, you'll want to scrub the inside of your oven and clean your fridge, throwing out any items that really shouldn't be there any more.
Clean the toilet
At least some of your guests will use the toilet while you're hosting a Christmas party, so scrub away any stains and bring out the air fresheners before people arrive.
Visitors won't see every nook and cranny of your home, so make your life easier by working out which areas they're most likely to visit and notice. It means you can prioritise and not worry about tasks such as cleaning out the attic.
Instead of doing it all half-heartedly and reluctantly, you can deal with the bits that need sorting as soon as possible and do it all properly.
