Clean your house after a flea infestation
Category: Carpet Cleaning
Fleas on a cat or dog can quickly spread around the house, leaving more than just your pet to free of the infestation. In fact, it's estimated that just five per cent of fleas affect the animal during an infestation and the other 95 per cent are living in your property.
This means that if your pet gets infected then you need to act quickly to get rid of the problem and stop it spreading as much as possible.
You're best to treat both your pet and your home at the same time as this reduces the risk of the infestation returning. Unfortunately though, removing fleas from your house can be a lengthy and complicated process.
Fleas like to hide away in dark corners, meaning that absolutely everything around the house can become infected.
Whether fleas are under your bed, tucked away beneath furniture or in your carpets and upholstery, you will need to give your property a thorough clean to get rid of the problem.
Your best bet is to call in a professional carpet cleaning firm to remove them from your carpets because, despite your best efforts, it really is very difficult to get rid of them completely without the proper equipment.
Someone who's experienced will have much better products and equipment to ensure they're gone for good - plus your carpets will look much fresher afterwards too.
However, don't wait until the professionals arrive to do anything about the problem. If it's left even for a few days then the fleas will spread. Make sure to vacuum the house and wipe down as many surfaces as possible to try and keep them contained.
You'll also need to wash any clothes and bedding that your pet might have come into contact with to make sure the fleas don't try and make your property their permanent home.
