Cleaning Hacks For Your Newly Built House

When moving to a newly constructed house, owners usually have mixed feelings. The happiness of moving into a new apartment is the first feeling. On the other hand, they will be anxious and overwhelmed about the untidy condition of the newly constructed apartment.

Although after construction cleaning may look like a big task and difficult to achieve, there are ways in which you can clean your just-built house with less stress.

Many people are overwhelmed when it comes to having a sparkling clean house after construction because they don’t know what to do and which product to use. Yes! It’s necessary that you invite a cleaning company to help you out. However, you need to know that even after the company has done their part of the job, weeks and months later, you’ll still experience some specks of dust in your apartment until everything is settled. And all this dust needs cleaning. As a result, you’ve to exercise patience and develop ways to get rid of those clouds of dust and dirt from time to time till you have a sparkling clean after construction.

Tips and steps you should take when you arrive at your new house for a perfect post-construction cleaning

Using General-Purpose Cleaner

General-purpose cleaners are important for your cleaning. You can use them to clean almost all of the materials in your house that have any traces of dust, ranging from your windows seals, wall mouldings, hardwood floors, to even your kitchen sink. The most interesting feature of an all-purpose cleaner is that it’s made of natural ingredients, which makes it safe to use.

How do you make an all-purpose cleaner? It’s pretty simple to do. Start by getting yourself a spray bottle — then half fill the spray bottle with vinegar and the other half with water. You may also add one or two drops of dishwashing soap — then shake thoroughly to mix the contents properly. Your general purpose cleaner is completely ready, and you can start using it to clean your materials.

Damp Paper Towel

Because all-purpose cleaners contain vinegar which is acidic in nature, we advise that you don’t use it on your granite materials. So, what should you use? A damp paper towel or microfiber cloth is an excellent alternative. It’ll leave your granite sparkling clean, and shining.

Use Bar Keepers Friend / Comet

These are necessary cleaners for your bathtubs, showers, sinks and other materials that are made of porcelain or ceramics. It has a powerful and quick cleaning ability — it only takes a few minutes before you have a sparkling clean surface. As awesome as this cleanser is, things can be the other way when you leave it for so long before rinsing it water. Therefore you should make sure that you don’t leave BKF on your materials for long. Clean it up as fast as possible (we recommend one minute) after application on the surface of the material you want to wash. When you follow these tips, you will be able to keep your newly constructed house clean.

Use Steamers

Getting a steamer is a fantastic idea when it comes to dealing with hardwood floors and bathroom tiles. You may not even need your regular mops again because steaming will help you to clear the hard materials that are glued to the floor after construction and leave your floor tidy and clean. Hardwood floors, as the name implies, are made of wood — which means that it’s not ideal to have much water on them — because it can discolour, warp or ruin the glue that is used to attach the floorboards. This is why a steam mop is an excellent choice for your hardwood floor. The precaution when using a steamer is that you should move it quickly across your floor. This is because the steamer mops water in the form of the steam out of the floor very quickly and when you leave it on the spot for too long, it can cause a big mark on your floor as a result of the steam. The best way we recommend is that you don’t use the steam for regular mopping but when you meet a hard stain stocked up on your floor, then it’s the right time for you to use steam.

Seal Your Grout

For your bathroom cleaning with steamers, the first thing you need to do is to seal your grout. What do we mean? You should purchase sealers for grout — it is in a bottle with something like a toothbrush on the bottle top. It’s what you’ll use to seal up your grouting and tiles in your bathroom, in the showers, on the floor and around the wall. The reason behind sealing the grouting is to ensure that you prevent moisturiser which attracts dust, grease, moulds and dirt and make cleaning the grout a difficult task from the sealed area. This will make cleaning a walk in the park task for you to carry out.

In conclusion, there will be lots of dust and dirt that comes along with all the belongings when moving into your new house. Therefore, cleaning might be a little bit of stress (for the first three cleanings) till the time when you have their house well and organized in the perfect order. Once you have your perfect after construction cleaning, you can proceed with the regular cleaning to have a sparkling clean home.
