According to a study published in April by Green Face, more than 100 chemicals found in a typical home have been linked to cancers, allergies, birth defects and even depression. But Jeffrey Hollender, chief executive of Seventh Generation, that an increasing amount of domestic cleaning products are being made with environmentally friendly ingredients. He said: "Almost in all cases, products that are safer for you to use are far better for the environment. "Products are being made primarily with renewable, vegetable-based ingredients rather than ingredients that are made from petrochemicals." Meanwhile research by the International Association for Soaps, Detergents and Maintenance Products found that the cleaning industry as a whole reduced its CO2 emissions by more than 15 per cent in 2006. ![]() |
