Latest news: It is vital that clean tools are used when cleaning work surfaces, one industry expert has claimed.'Cleaning must be done with clean tools' Home sellers told to 'thoroughly clean house' Environmentally friendly carpets Carpet cleaning 'should be left to the professionals' Individuals that use soiled cleaning products such as mops, brooms and cloths run the risk of spreading more bacteria, highlighting the benefit of using a professional cleaning agency. According to microbiologist Dr Charles Gerba of the University of Arizona, carpet cleaning or sofa cleaning with dirty tools "can spread micro-organisms around without your realising it". She added that certain tools become "micropile compost heaps" and the use of dirty tools can result in "just laying down a thin layer of E.coli over the surface". A study into the use of conventional cleaning methods with high-fluid systems found that the latter can significantly reduce the risk of cross contamination. The dangerous strain of E. coli 0157 can be fatal to children, with two recent cases of infection reported in Shropshire earlier this month. ![]() |
