Nigel Godfery, business manager at Retail Birmingham, which launched the scheme, claims that the current level of business waste is "unacceptable". He told the Birmingham Post: "We will be rolling this campaign out over the next six months and will continue to work with businesses from then on so that the results will be long lasting." The wardens will visit business premises across the city and carry out checks to ensure that all rubbish is being disposed of using the correct bags. Wardens will also check that commercial cleaners are aware of the new procedures. City authorities in Birmingham recently rejected proposals to introduce wheelie bins in Birmingham. ![]() |
