Professional carpet cleaners provide a better service than anything that could be achieved by an ordinary person, according to one industry expert.

The Good Housekeeping Research Institute recently ran tests on four top cleaning companies to compare their carpet cleaning services.

Commenting on the results, the institute's Carolyn Forte said: "You'll get a better deep-down job than you could if you did it by yourself.

However, she noted that the cleaning agency that pre-treated existing stains in the trials were the best value for things like a final end of tenancy cleaning service.

"Technicians should move small furniture, put protectors under the furniture legs and, if your carpeting hasn't been cleaned in a while, give you realistic expectations of what the results should be," she told komonews.com.

Meanwhile the research team at famous steel cleaning brand WD-40 recently made an accidental discovery that a new product could also be used as an environmentally-friendly carpet cleaning tool.
