An innovative company in the US has confronted environmentally friendly carpet cleaning head on with its new carpet design.

FLOR carpets are made up of innovative tiles that allow carpet cleaners to remove specific sections to clean rather than carpet cleaning companies being paid to clean an entire carpet.

According to research by Carpetrecovery.org, many consumers end up replacing whole carpets because "it's faded, discoloured, marked and stained or has a dated colour".

But rather than committing an entire carpet to landfill, FLOR carpet tile sections can be removed to be dealt with by specialist carpet cleaners and temporarily replaced with a new patch.

Nylon and fibre carpets take an estimated 250,000 years to break down and the US alone has an estimated 1.5 to 1.7 million tonnes of carpet waste every year.

FLOR carpet tiles could well be the ideal way for homeowners and office-based companies to best utilise a carpet cleaning agency and save the environment at the same time.
